Responsibilities

Works collaboratively with Northside Hospital Leadership to administer and coordinate all operations in order to achieve and maintain clinical quality, financial viability, patient and visitor safety as well as service excellence and customer satisfaction.  Responsible for the day to day operations and supervision of the assigned Physician Practice and all its employees.  Responsible for the coordination of all practice services including but not limited to patient access, scheduling, pre-authorization, chart management, nursing, any procedures and/or other functions.  Is responsible for ensuring compliance with departmental operational through-put goals.  The job classifications of  Practice Coordinator I, II, III share this common job description.  The assignment of level is based on the score produced when scope data related to the physician practice.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Evaluates, identifies and makes changes in daily operations which include: adjusting staffing, use of resources and materials, priority setting and patient services to enhance the services within the practice.
  2. Implements, interprets, and ensures hospital and division philosophy, policies, procedures, and established standards of care and practice are followed.  Ensures consistency of clinical practice documents and hospital-wide policies with recognized regulatory and specialty standards.  Adheres to all recommendations and ramifications of JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals.
  3. In conjunction with the Physicians and practice leadership, and staff, ensures clinical guidelines are established for assessment, treatment, and special procedures.
  4. Works in collaboration with the Manager, Physician Practices to manage resources in order to meet budget expectations.  Able to explain and justify variances from budget.  Assists in the assembly of the operational and capital budgets which accurately reflect the financial and operational needs of the practice. 
  5. Collaborates with Manager, physicians and marketing to develop strategies targeted to the consumer and referring physicians.  Actively seeks out and reports opportunities for additional revenue/market growth and expense reduction.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and a minimum of three (3) years management experience in business, nursing, or healthcare related field OR
  • Graduate from a medical assisting program or institute accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and a minimum of three (3) years management experience in business, nursing or healthcare related field OR
  • Graduate of a US Military Medic course (AMRT/AARTS/CCAFS/ACE) and a minimum of three (3) years management experience in business, nursing, or healthcare related field.
  • Current American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • Expertise in ambulatory/physician office practice flow and activities, specialty specific disease processes and conditions; in-office procedures, and patient education.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

 

  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) or Medical Assistant (RMA) certified through American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management or sciences, public health or other closely related fields.
  • Minimum of three (3) years patient care experience as a Medical Assistant in physician practice or other ambulatory care setting.
  • Implementation and maintenance of an electronic medical record.
