OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Coordinates purchase of equipment, supplies, and other materials for assigned departments. Responsibilities involving conducting price reviews, placing orders, and maintaining inventories and associated records.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verifies accuracy of orders, examines incoming items for damage, documents items received, and maintains associated records. Investigates past due and rush orders.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager.
- Purchases materials for inventory, non-stock items, and services for Northside Hospital locations.
- Assure expedition of all rush orders.
- Reviews purchase orders. Calls, faxes, and sends EDI’s to appropriate vendors.
- Monitors purchase orders to make sure orders have transmitted successfully.
- Confirms expected shipment dates and pricing with vendors. Updating the purchasing system accordingly.
- Review and resolve open orders.
- Monitor price changes and communicate with Supervisor/Manager as necessary.
- Processes returns, exchanges, and repairs for all departments.
- Assists personnel in the selection and procurement of new supply items.
