Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships and agreements with third parties responsible for the routine and emergency maintenance of power, electrical, mechanical, cabling, building monitoring, security, and other critical data center infrastructure systems.
  • Maintain and establish processes for the ongoing maintenance of data center rack and cabinet level documentation, including data center diagrams.
  • Coordinate and establish processes for the shipping and receiving of data center assets, as well as regular updates to the Northside Hospital configuration management database based on deployment/decommissioning of equipment.
  • Ensure physical security of data centers consistent with NSH policies and procedures.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance.
  • Work with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains all data center policies and procedures utilizing industry best practices.
  • Create, utilize, and administer standard operating procedures for all work on critical data center facilities equipment.
  • Assists in design, implementation, and testing of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes for Data Center.
  • Participate in technical infrastructure planning and strategy sessions as required.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accidents to the director.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, or related technical field, or seven (7) years of experience managing data center facilities infrastructure.
  2. Ability to communicate and problem-solve effectively
  3. Basic knowledge of hardware, software, and other technology best practices including business continuity and disaster recovery.
  4. Strong Understanding of critical electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and power systems/equipment (e.g., UPS, generators, switchgear, PDU's, CRAC units, chillers).
  5. Ability to lead and manage third parties, understanding and enforcing contractual obligations, and managing both operational and financial aspects of a third party agreement.
