Responsibilities

Northside Alpharetta Pharmacy is a satellite pharmacy that services an outpatient surgery center, retail patients, an infusion clinic, pain clinics, and radiology.

 

As part of the health care team, practices Pharmacy as a knowledge-based clinical profession, and integrates patient-oriented services with traditional distributive and drug control activities. Provides pharmaceutical services including drug information to nurses, physicians, and other health care providers. Advises the same with respect to drug interactions, contraindications and other relevant information to ensure optimal and safe drug therapy. Serves all patients to include, but not limited to, neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees compounding and dispensing of medications and IV's to outpatient surgery center, retail patients, infusion clinic, pain clinics, and radiology
  • Manages narcotic dispensing and reconciliation
  • Compounds high-risk sterile compounds
  • Reviews and interprets surgical and retail physician's orders in relation to reasonable therapeutic outcomes
  • Contacts physicians regarding questionable orders including contraindications/interactions, incorrect dosages, patient allergies and other relevant information
  • Ensures maintenance and procurement of pharmaceuticals, checks and replaces outdated drugs, and ensures proper drug storage, packaging, and delivery
  • Reviews patient profiles/charts and computer generated medication administration records against physician orders to ensure proper and accurate drug therapy
  • Provides drug information to health care providers and patients
  • Trains, monitors, and directs activities of Pharmacy Technicians and new employees

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
1. Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.

2. Georgia Pharmacist License.


PREFERRED:
1. One (1) year of previous hospital pharmacy experience.

2. Experience in Retail Pharmacy practice.

3. Good communication skills.
