Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for supervision of registration activities for multiple outpatient surgery center locations ensuring efficient operations in the front office. Provides appropriate statistical information and monitors required compliance within assigned areas.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of department goals, objectives, standards, policy and procedures supporting the hospitals needs and ensures their compliance.
  3. Maintains communications with patient care, physicians, information systems, ancillary departments, and administration to assess and to resolve patient registration issues.
  4. Evaluates staff performance with quality review audits to identify areas of opportunity and provide appropriate education, training materials, and reference documents.
  5. Reviews staffing requirements on a regular basis, and works closely with surgery leadership to cover employee absences at each location. 
  6. Performs duties of front office staff as required across multiple locations.
  7. Responsible for hiring, orienting new staff, evaluating, counseling, and administering disciplinary action up to, and including, termination.
  8. Verifies hours worked by departmental personnel, reviewing the time log binder, and approves weekly time report for Manager's signature. 
  9. Coordinates activities with the Business Office Supervisors to assist in problem solving, ensuring that front‑end procedures in registration do not negatively impact backend procedures.
  10. Maintains a working knowledge of insurance verification, pre-registration and billing policies and procedures. Reviews insurance regulation updates, and provides insurance training and support to staff and patients.
  1. Maintains working knowledge of all the Patient Access systems; including, but not limited to ADT, Insurance Verification, Financial Estimation, Quality Assurance, Payment Processing System, etc.
  1. Provides ongoing and real time support for Patient Access functions across multiple outpatient surgery center locations.
  1. Evaluates and ensures compliance and standards of registration activities across multiple outpatient surgery center locations through monitoring and working reports.
  1. Performs quality and compliance audits for multiple outpatient surgery center locations.
  1. Performs point of service collections analysis, identifying opportunities, and educating the staff.
  1. Assists leadership with special projects and administrative related issues.
  1. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • a. B.S., B.A., or Associate's degree in Business, plus two (2) years registration experience or equivalent receivables/management experience, OR;
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus five (5) years registration experience or two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to train and direct employees.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of billing, insurance verification, and collection procedures, and a general knowledge of computers and computer systems.

PREFERRED

 

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
