Responsibilities

The Interventional Nurse Navigator is responsible for managing the care of identified patients with interventional GI and Pulmonary needs, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, to ensure access to high quality care throughout the continuum. The Interventional Nurse Navigator serves as a single point of contact for patients, caregivers, and referring physicians, and provides resources and assistance with accessing clinical and supportive care services offered by Northside Hospital and community partners. An Interventional Nurse Navigator is a nurse with advanced training and skill who has experience working with Interventional GI or pulmonary procedural patients. The position requires a willingness to work flexible hours.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Orients, trains, and provides support to nursing students, externs, residents, nursing staff, departmental support staff.
  2. Plans, implements and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs.
  3. Performs the duties and responsibilities of the Staff Registered Nurse.
  4. Provides oversight of preceptor selection process; may serve as preceptor.
  5. Uses adult learning principles to plan, design, implement, and evaluate educational opportunities and workshops for staff.
  6. Facilitates implementation of policies, procedures, and equipment.
  7. Maintains education and competency records for unit-based staff.
  8. Assist with unit-specific competency program; determines competency needs; participates in annual competency evaluation process.
  9. Participates in hospital-wide QI Program and assists in regulatory and compliance preparation.
  10. Develops, monitors, and reports unit-based QI measurement indicators.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

 

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and three (3) years of clinical experience in GI or Pulmonary services.

 

PREFERRED:

 

  1. Previous experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  2. Strong working knowledge of healthcare systems and community resources.
  3. Able to establish strong working relationships within a healthcare system.
  4. Previous experience in project management or case management.
  5. Masters of Science Degree in Nursing.

8am-5pm
