Responsibilities

Assists with day to day management, implementation and communication of Northside Hospital benefit plans. Additionally, the Specialist will manage, monitor, audit and analyze benefits data, trends, new plan implementations and support the M&A process. The Specialist will also be responsible for day to day benefits administration, customer service escalations, billing and provides guidance to less experienced staff members Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications including expert status in Excel.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Explains employee benefits by conducting meetings; preparing written and graphic announcements and explanations; responding to requests.
  2. Maintains employee confidence by keeping benefit information confidential.
  3. Work closely with Benefits Manager and Coordinator on ERISA and HIPPA Compliance Issues.
  4. Works with Coordinator on annual pension valuations, IRS filings, discrimination testing, and benefit statements.
  5. Uses technology to automate business processes. Researches, analyzes, evaluates and administer benefit plans. Scrub and provide data as needed/requested to internal and external customers. Manage data and identify workflow efficiencies.
  6. Support Benefits Team on day to day benefits administration.
  7. Works with Payroll Department and Coordinator to insure legal compliance.
  8. Completes and submits data for benefits surveys and benchmarking.
  9. Conducts periodic system audits with vendors to ensure data integrity. Creates reports, as needed, for tracking plan statistics. Reports to Coordinator monthly on issues relating to the daily administration of the plan.
  10. Monitors Compliance with internal, external and Sarbanes-Oxley audit processes and requirements.
  11. Responsible for the assisting with regulatory compliance for all benefit programs and strong working knowledge of Plan Documents, SPDs, SARS, 5500’s and discrimination testing; Work with vendors to prepare and file required annual IRS/PBGC Forms: DOL annual forms.
  12. Monitor benefit trends and remain abreast of applicable benefit legislation and regulatory compliance changes.
  13. Determines employee benefit interests by conducting employee surveys; forming focus groups; analyzing responses.
  14. Provides assistance with management planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing employee benefit data and trends

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor of Science in a related field and five (5) years' experience in benefits administration.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefit programs and related regulations and administrative procedure.
  3. Prior work experience in healthcare environment.
  4. Demonstrated skills in the operation of personal computers and the use of database and word-processing programs.
  5. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  7. Ability to lead projects across functions
  8. Excellent interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills.
  9. Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
  10. Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications including expert status in Excel.
  11. Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
  12. Ability to effectively interact with third party service.
  13. Excellent analytical, problem solving, verbal, written and presentation skills.

PREFERRED:

  1. Certification in Benefits and or Retirement Planning through workshops, seminars, or coursework.
