Functions as a member of the Transplant Team assisting in the coordination, development and implementation of the technical section of the Bone Marrow and Peripheral Blood Stem cell program. Performs complex procedures such as peripheral blood stem cell and bone marrow processing, concentration, purging, positive selection, cryopreservation, thaw and infusion procedures based on approved clinical protocols. Works with adult and geriatric patients.

REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and applicants must be eligible for an appropriate certification examination.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)

OR

• Associates Degree in laboratory science (Chemical or Biological Science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)
• Experienced Medical Technologist and have a minimum of (2) two years’ clinical laboratory experience.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Competent to interact with donors, patients and family members.
• Ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities.

PREFERRED

• Completed (or be eligible for) an appropriate certification examination.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: AABB, AMT, AAB, ASCP, NCA, HHS(HEW).
• Cell therapy processing experience.
• Makes independent decisions within established parameters.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
