Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician’s order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.
Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination.
Positions patients, administers oral, intravenous, urethral and rectal contrast as required and monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.
Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.
Enters patient charges into computer.
Performs minor maintenance and repairs on Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment. Refers other problems to the department Supervisor.
Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager. Places a ticket with appropriate Vendor for equipment failure and reports the issue to site Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Registered CT Technologist from ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT)
OR
Registry eligible through ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT)
Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
Registry eligible must become registered as a CT technologist within 6 months of start date.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED
Prior training or experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning.
Basic knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy.
Ability to insert intravenous catheter.
Ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with various types of patients, visitors, physicians and
other personnel.
