Responsibilities

This position is created for knowledgeable staff members who are capable to take a lead position in Flow Cytometry or Molecular Diagnostics Laboratories. A lead laboratory scientist actively participates in day-to- day operations of High Complexity Laboratories, performs a wide range of

Qualifications

REQUIRED:
1. Must have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Medical Technology/Biochemistry/ Biology or other Life Science disciplines from an accredited college or university.

2. Must have Georgia recognized certification in Medical Technology or being eligible for such certification.

3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory experience in multi-color flow cytometry.

4. Technical expertise: experience with operations of BD flow cytometers; knowledge of software DIVA, CANTO, for quantitative and qualitative (pattern recognition) flow cytometry. Experience in a wide menu of clinical flow tests (Immunophenotyping; CD34 enumeration; Lymphocyte Subset Enumeration); familiarity with antibody panel design.

5. Ability to participate in laboratory assay development in clinical flow cytometry.

6. Computer skills: proficiency in MS Excel, knowledge of MS Word; basic statistics skills; expertise in laboratory information systems.

7. Ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities; skills to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts and to draw valid conclusions.

8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent team player abilities.

9. Ability to adjust to flexible schedules varied hours or work on-call.

10. Color vision acuity is required to safely perform the duties of this position: passing grade on Color-Acuity Screening Test required.


PREFERRED:
1. Extensive knowledge of laboratory assay development and panel design.

2. Experience with operations of 10+ color BD flow cytometers (Fortessa, Lyric).

3. Knowledge of basic statistical analysis for flow cytometry and quality control programs for Laboratory Developed Assays.

4. Knowledge of cytometer-based and magnetic beads-based sorting techniques and applications for flow sort.
