Responsibilities

Conducts and manages moderate to complex financial analysis and modeling projects using a variety of the decision support systems with a particular emphasis on physician compensation and associated financial metrics. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing detailed reports on physician compensation structures, payment methodologies, and practice profitability. Develops comprehensive pro forma financial statements and effectively handles ad-hoc financial requests with advanced problem-solving skills. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial systems and oversees projects related to budgets, cost accounting, revenue management, profitability analysis, productivity metrics, and service line reviews. Performs analyses with limited supervision and assists in the training and development of Level I Financial Analysts.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conducts comprehensive financial analysis with a focus on physician-related metrics. This includes detailed monthly statistical reporting, budget variance analysis, clinical and volume reporting, and other sophisticated financial operational analyses.
  2. Prepares, analyzes, and oversees detailed physician compensation reports, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of physician compensation payments and maintaining comprehensive records while performing detailed diligence on reporting.
  3. Develops and manages physician practice profit and loss statements, providing strategic insights into practice profitability and identifying opportunities for financial improvement.
  4. Constructs detailed pro forma financial statements to support new initiatives, expansions, or financial forecasting for physician practices and other healthcare services, utilizing advanced financial modeling techniques.
  5. Handles ad-hoc financial analysis requests with a proactive and advanced problem-solving approach, ensuring timely and accurate responses to complex financial queries and scenarios.
  6. Utilizes a variety of financial and analytical tools to complete projects, ensuring data accuracy and consistency, and presents findings and recommendations to management.
  7. Supports and enhances the finance division's core functions, including cost accounting processes, charge master management, operating and capital budgeting, month-end flexible budget processes, and physician profitability or productivity projects.
  8. Practices and promotes proper safety techniques in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or injuries immediately to the Manager.
  9. Mentors and provides guidance to junior financial analysts, fostering a collaborative and educational environment within the finance team.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Health Administration.
  2. Minimum one year of decision support or health care finance experience.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of computers and micro computer applications.
  4. Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite; intermediate level ability with Excel.
  5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Demonstrated communication skills in written, reports and oral formats.
  7. Self-starter who has the ability to manage multiple priorities and to work with only general supervision on assigned projects and activities.
  8. The individual must demonstrate tact and diplomacy in situations of conflict and controversy and must have excellent communication and presentation skills. 

PREFERRED: 

  1. Master’s in Business Administration or Health Administration.
  2. Designation as Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  3. Strong knowledge of and experience with databases using SQL or other advance system languages. Adept at creating and managing complex queries.
