Responsibilities

Patient Access Description

Arranges for efficient and accurate collection of information for orderly registration of pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Collects and distributes patient information, billing information, and collection information. Makes patients and families aware of hospital policies and procedures. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy in speaking with patients, families, and others to maintain sound community relations.

 

Patient Access Lead Description

The Lead Patient Access Rep will be responsible for directing and coordinating the registration functions and personnel. The duties of this position require the exercise of courtesy and patience in speaking with patients, families, and others to maintain sound public relations.

 

Financial Counselor Description

Represents the Hospital in financial matters pertaining to obtaining payment on patient accounts during pre-admission and inpatient phases of the patient's visit. Acts as intermediary with Admitting, Business Office, patients and family members while the patient is hospitalized.

 

Financial Counselor Lead Description

Serves as lead person in representing the Hospital in financial matters pertaining to obtaining payment on patient accounts during pre-admission and inpatient phases of the patient's visit. Requires heavy phone work and personal contact with patients, family members, insurance companies, physician office staff, and outside financial assistance agencies.

Qualifications

Please note: All positions require a holiday and weekend rotation.

 

Patient Access Rep Requirements

  • Six months clerical or customer service experience - preferably in a hospital or medical office.
  • Excellent communication and strong customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge and ability to perform accurately and efficiently on computer.
  • Typing skills of 30 wpm.

 

Patient Access Rep Lead Requirements

  • Minimum of two years experience in admitting or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of admitting functions and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently, and train and direct others.

 

Financial Counselor Requirements

  • 1. A. High School Diploma or GED with one (1) year experience in collection, OR B. Associates Degree in Business or related field
  • 2. Good communication skills.
  • 3. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • 4. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
  • 5. Must be able to type a minimum of 30 wpm or better.

Financial Counselor Lead Requirements

  • 1. a. High School Diploma OR GED with Two (2) years experience in collection, OR b. Associate's Degree in Business.
  • 2. Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • 3. Ability to train and direct the work of others.
  • 4. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology course or assessment of 80% or better.
  • 5. Must be able to type a minimum of 40 wpm or better.
  • 6. Prior experience in healthcare environment.
