Responsibilities

Performs electroneurodiagnostic tests on neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients of including EEG (electroencephalogram) and Evoked Potential tests, to assist in the diagnosis of various brain disorders.

RIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Consults with physicians and checks patient's history.
  2. Explains procedure to patient and places electrodes in appropriate cranial areas using the International 10-20 system.
  3. Performs EEG in accordance with standard operating procedures and in accordance with ACNS guidelines.
  4. Provide detailed observations while recording the EEG.
  5. Reports need for repairs for the EEG equipment  to immedi­ate supervisor.
  6. Enter charges into computer system to ensure proper billing of patients.
  7. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to manager.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED 

  1. Enrolled in a Neurodiagnostics program and nine months experience performing EEG studies.

Or

  1. One year supervised experience performing EEG studies in a clinical setting. 
  1. BLS Certified

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Registered by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic Technologists (ABRET).
  2. Completion of a certified EEG program and one year performing EEG studies.
