Develops and monitors the work activities in the Histology Lab and the Morgue. Performs routine histological activities of receiving, preparing, and processing surgical specimens for patients.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

1. All applicants shall meet at least one (1) of the following education/experience requirements:
   1. Successful completion of a formal training in Histology laboratory technology OR Associate’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences
   2. Certified as an HT/HTL (ASCP) or eligible to take the HT/HTL (ASCP) exam. Certification eligible applicants must pass examination within eighteen (18) months after school graduation or after moving to the state of Georgia.
   3. Three (3) years' experience in a pathology laboratory

2. Applicants must demonstrate skills as described in the promotion path

3. Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and

4. All applicants must submit to and pass a Color-Acuity screening

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

1. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
