Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Receives clean linen from laundry vendor and organizes in linen store room as per standard room set-up. 
  2. Collects soiled linen from departments/designated areas and transports to central collection area. 
  3. Cleans assigned area in accordance with established procedures. 
  4. Manages in-house linen inventory levels for each department.  
  5. Counts all linen on unit carts and replenishes items to correct PAR levels. 
  6. Loads inventory on linen carts to be distributed to the units. 
  7. Interfaces professionally and effectively with staff; leadership, nurses, nurse managers, clinicians, etc. 
  8. Maintains the orderliness and cleanliness of the inventory room at all times, including dusting, wet mopping and light scrubbing of the floors. 
  9. Handles all routine duties and special calls for linen. 
  10. Ensures equipment is in good working order.
  11. Ensures proper infection control procedures are followed. 
  12. May train and orient new employees as required.
  13. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager.
  14. Other duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Basic knowledge in use of computers and ability to learn appropriate software applications.
  3. Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
  4. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  5. Ability to operate computerized inventory system.
  6. Ability to use hand-held scanner to issue and track inventory.
  7. Able to react calmly under stressful conditions.
  8. Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-work complex problems.
  9. Ability to work independently, using judgment and problem solving skills as necessary to resolve customer service issues, order discrepancies, and as otherwise necessary in the performance of duties.
