Responsibilities

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) render direct patient care to an assigned group of patients, in
accordance with the philosophy, policies and procedures of Northside Hospital. LPNs participate in
the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. LPNs work under the direction of the
Registered Nurse in an assigned clinical area.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the
delivery of health care services and other specialized tasks when appropriately
trained and consistent with policies and procedures including Georgia Board of
Nursing rules and regulations.
2. Provides direct personal patient observation, care, and assistance in a variety of
hospital-based and clinic settings.
3. Performs comfort and safety measures.
4. Administers treatments and medication.
5. Participates in the management and supervision of unlicensed personnel in the
delivery of patient care.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

This position is housed in the Northside Hospital forsyth Float Pool and offers the opportunity to care for a variety of patient populations in our Acute Care units. Our team enjoys self-scheduling!

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  2. Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
  3. Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. One (1) year of experience as an LPN.
  2. Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty
    certifications may be preferred in specific units.
  3. Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.
