Responsibilities

RN

The Registered Professional Nurse at Northside Hospital independently plans and provides professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and established guidelines, and in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.

 

Clinical Supervisor

The Clinical Supervisor provides direct patient care and supervises the nursing operations of a unit. In the absence of the Manager or Director may assume 24 hour nursing responsibility. Works with a unit specific patient population

 

Patient Care Tech (CNA)

Provides nursing assistance and patient care to provide for the comfort, safety and personal needs of patients. Assists patients with activities of daily living and performs procedures for physical hygiene and comfort of patients. Performs duties with the construct of a unit-based, self-directed patient care team while sharing various tasks with other licensed and non-licensed members. In Special Care Nurseries, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for assisting with the transport of healthy, uncompromised newborns from Labor and Delivery to the newborn admission nursery, cleaning equipment used on infants in the Special Care Nursery, and ordering patient care supplies from the storeroom and stocking the Special Care Nursery areas.

 

Clinical Development Specialist

Coordinates the development and implementation of education and training programs to enhance, promote, and maintain high standards of staff professional growth in providing quality patient care. Serves as a role model of excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice.  Administers staff development programs through needs assessment and implements education and training programs for clinical staff.  Functions in a leadership role as a clinical expert. Develops and implements training and maintains established standards of care through quality improvement activities. Maintains unit-specific quality, accreditation, and clinical competency programs.   Responsibilities involve providing staff instruction on the collection of data, assisting with the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, and serving as a resource to departmental and other hospital staff.

 

Nurse Clinician

Functions in a leadership role, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team as a direct care provider and clinical expert. Develops and implements practice guidelines, participates as active and integral member of clinical pathway team, and maintains the established standards of care and practice through staff development, clinical improvement activities, and patient/staff education.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

RN REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  2. Minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training.
  3. Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS). 
  4. Other requirements such as RN attributes & certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc.) are unit specific. Please refer to the specific clinical unit.

CLINICAL SUPERVISOR REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  2. Three (3) years' experience in clinical area with a minimum of one (1) year in area of specialty OR
  3. Bachelor's in Nursing with Two (2) years’ experience in clinical area with a minimum of one (1) year in area of specialty
  4. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and make appropriate clinical and supervisory decisions. Must possess good problem solving skills.
  5. Successful completion of a management course prior to appointment, or within six (6) months of employment.
  6. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  7. Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  8. Other certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required based on department needs.

NURSE CLINICIAN REQUIREMENTS:

 

     1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

     2. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing,

     3. Two (2) years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in the area of nursing assigned.

     4. Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of Georgia

     5. Must hold American Heart Association BLS Certification.

 

CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  2. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  3. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
  4. Must hold Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).

 

PATIENT CARE TECH (CNA) REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. a. Listed as a CNA on the Georgia Registry OR b. Graduate of a U.S. Military Medic course OR c. Enrolled in a School of Nursing and has completed one (1) full semester of clinical rotations OR d. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Medical Degree program
  2. One year patient care experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
  3.  Current BLS card (CPR)
