Responsibilities

Under general supervision, medical consultation, and direction as outlined in an approved Georgia Nurse Protocol Agreement, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced nursing and medical care to critically ill cardiac patients in the intensive care setting. The NP performs comprehensive assessments; establishes medical diagnoses; orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests; initiates and manages therapeutic interventions; and coordinates care in collaboration with the cardiovascular critical care team.

Practice is conducted in accordance with Georgia Board of Nursing regulations, institutional policies, and the NP’s education, training, certification, and granted clinical privileges.

Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in Nursing.

2. Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body. Nurse Practitioner candidates must hold Acute Care certification (ACNP or AGACNP).

3. Please refer to the Medical Staff Guidelines for certifications and credentialing applicable to this position.

4. Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.

5. Must hold American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
