Overview

The Director of Operations for Hospital-Based Physician Services provides System-wide leadership for hospital-based physician service lines across all 5 Northside hospitals and facilities within the health system. This role is responsible for standardizing operations, driving performance consistency, and advancing strategic initiatives across all assigned hospital-based services. The Director partners closely with system executives, hospital administrators, physician leaders, and operational teams to ensure high-quality, efficient, and financially sustainable care delivery across the system.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for hospital-based physician services across all hospitals and affiliated facilities.
  • Develop and execute system-wide strategies aligned with organizational goals, growth plans, and value-based care initiatives.
  • Establish standardized operating models, policies, workflows, and best practices across facilities.
  • Support service line expansion, and system growth initiatives.
  • Provide escalation support for complex operational and physician-related issues.

Physician & Clinical Leadership Partnership

  • Serve as a system-level partner to physician leaders, medical directors, and department chairs.
  • Support physician engagement, alignment, and leadership development.
  • Collaborate on staffing models, call coverage strategies, and workforce planning.
  • Support and collaborate with recruitment, onboarding, and retention teams regarding hospital growth strategies.

Financial Management

  • Provide system-level financial oversight including participating in budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Analyze productivity, revenue and expense across facilities.
  • Support contract negotiations, renewals, and compliance as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for economies of scale and cost optimization.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure system-wide compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor quality, patient safety, and clinical outcomes across services.
  • Partner with quality and risk teams to address system-level trends.
  • Lead system-wide quality improvement initiatives.

Data, Performance & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain system-level dashboards and KPIs.
  • Analyze enterprise data to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Present performance summaries to executive leadership.
  • Drive accountability through transparent reporting.

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement

  • Act as a system representative for hospital-based services.
  • Build strong relationships with executives, hospital leaders, and physicians.
  • Represent services in system committees and strategic forums.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. 7-10 years’ of progressive healthcare leadership experience
  2. Experience managing hospital operations and/or physician services.
  3. Ability to work independently.
  4. Strong management and leadership skills including a minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
  5. System-level role requiring regular travel between hospitals
