Responsibilities

The Coordinator, FP&A Systems & Applications oversees the hospital system’s FP&A financial planning technologies and related analytical systems. This role provides functional leadership, system governance, and advanced technical oversight for enterprise performance management (EPM) platforms (e.g., Axiom), ensuring data integrity, system availability, process efficiency, and alignment with organizational budgeting, forecasting, and reporting needs. 

The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between Finance, Information Services, and external vendors, leads system enhancements and upgrades, establishes standards and controls, and supervises FP&A systems staff. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and exercises independent judgment in system design, prioritization, and issue resolution. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

FP&A Systems Leadership & Governance 

  • Owns overall administration, configuration, security structure, and governance of FP&A systems and applications (including Axiom EPM). 
  • Establishes system standards, data definitions, and best practices to ensure consistency and accuracy across financial models and reports. 
  • Approves and prioritizes enhancements, new functionality, and system changes requested by stakeholders. 

Team Leadership & Supervision 

  • Directly supervises FP&A Systems/Business Analysts, providing guidance, workload prioritization, coaching, and performance feedback. 
  • Assigns projects, reviews work products, and ensures deadlines and quality standards are met. 
  • Supports staff development through training, knowledge sharing, and exposure to advanced system capabilities. 

System Administration Oversight 

  • Oversees software upgrades, patches, testing, and validation in coordination with vendors and internal partners. 
  • Ensures proper maintenance of dimensions, hierarchies, data tables, interfaces, and security roles. 
  • Provides escalation support for complex system issues and ensures timely resolution. 

Reporting & Data Visualization 

  • Oversees development, maintenance, and governance of management reporting solutions using Axiom, PowerBI, and/or other data visualization tools, ensuring accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights for Finance leadership and operational stakeholders. 

Process Improvement & Optimization 

  • Leads initiatives to streamline and automate data loads, integrations, reports, and budgeting workflows. 
  • Identifies opportunities to improve data quality, usability, and performance of FP&A systems. 
  • Partners with Finance leadership to evolve system functionality in support of strategic planning and decision-making. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Serves as primary FP&A systems point of contact for Finance leadership, Information Services, and data-providing departments. 
  • Coordinates resolution of data integration issues with upstream systems and business owners. 
  • Translates business requirements into system design and technical specifications. 

Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting Support 

  • Oversees system support for annual budget, forecast, and long-range planning processes. 
  • Ensures system readiness and data accuracy during critical planning cycles. 
  • Reviews and validates submissions, calculations, and outputs for completeness and reasonableness. 

Documentation, Training & Controls 

  • Ensures development and maintenance of system documentation, user guides, and process instructions. 
  • Oversees end-user training strategy and ongoing adoption support. 
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls, corporate compliance policies, and audit requirements. 

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, and/or Management Information Systems
  2. 4 years of relevant work experience.
  3. Advanced communication skills in written and oral formats.
  4. Excellent analytical skills.
  5. Strong project management acumen.
  6. Adept in data mining, data modeling for applications, data warehousing, data cleansing, and data standardization.

PREFERRED:

  1. Experience with Axiom EPM or comparable financial planning platforms.
  2. Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL-based reporting environments.
  3. Dashboarding experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
  4. Prior experience supervising or leading analytical or systems-focused staff.
  5. Healthcare finance or hospital operations experience.
