Overview

Assists Imaging Technologist or Radiation Therapist with procedures. Assists in delivery of imaging services to patients of all ages. Provides support to Nursing, and administrative staff.

Responsibilities

Greets and transports patients to examining area and prepares patients for exams.

Gathers all forms, questionnaires, and orders.

Assists with imaging exams and procedures to include setting up rooms and immobilizing patients.

Assists with image management (i.e., preparing images for interpretation and separating copies.)

Communicate with patients, referring physicians, radiologists, technologists and others to obtain/provide information regarding patient medical history, patient care procedures and appropriate care and/or discharge instructions.

Assures patient safety, privacy, and comfort and reports problems as needed.

Maintains room cleanliness (exam rooms, dressing rooms, bathrooms).

Restock rooms with linens and supplies.

Responsible for cutting blocks necessary for radiation treatments.

Assists the Imaging technologist and radiation therapists with getting patients back and gowned for CT simulations and treatments.

Assists with examination room turnover, cleanliness and supplies.

Assists the Imaging staff with pulling of charts for upcoming appointments and assists the staff by collecting any radiology scans on CD from local departments or hospitals. 

Keeps department halls free from deliveries, wheelchairs, and stretchers to allow for easy passage and to promote safety per TJC.

Ensures wheelchairs and stretchers are fee of oxygen tanks.

Assists with retrieving any instruments needed for procedures. Cleans and prepares instruments for High Level Disinfection (HLD).

Ensures that oxygen tanks in the department are full and ready for use.

Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.  Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) or post-secondary education or (1) one year work experience.

Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

PREFERRED 

Experience in clinical patient care, preferably in a Radiology or other hospital/medical office environment.
