OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Oversees the daily operations of the Physician Contracts department. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of general health care operations and the ability to operate independently with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Serves a primary role in the negotiation and development of physician contracts.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Negotiates physician contracts independently and collaboratively in the health system. Is responsible for delegation of work within the Physician Contracting team. Such contract types may include, but are not limited to Medical Directorships, Response Agreements, Service Agreements, Employment and PSA Agreements.
- Works directly with hospital leaders, including the C-Suite, to ensure all physician contracting efforts are supported by appropriate documentation; i.e. needs assessments, fair market value assessments.
- Independently leads direct negotiations of contracts while overseeing the contracting process department-wide to ensure all due diligence and business valuations are complete.
- Works directly with third party partners of the hospital when necessary to engage such entities for the purposes of completing valuations, due diligence, strategic planning, or real estate assessments.
- Works directly with both internal and external legal counsel in the preparation, presentation and execution of physician contracts.
- Ensures all physician contracting agreements meet applicable regulations.
- Independently performs compensation studies that must be prepared for all Physician Contracting efforts as well as coordinates those studies that must be performed by a third party.
- Serves as a leader within the hospital and must be able to manage staff from various support departments of the hospital in order to carry out the strategic efforts of any venture.
- Ability to plan and perform projects under a high level of autonomy and within tight timeframes.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager.
