Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Analyst is assigned projects by the Department Coordinator, Manager, or Director that require a comprehensive understanding of general health care operations, complex financial modeling and the ability to operate at a high level of independent thinking. Conducts complex operational and financial analyses and provides training and education in a mentoring relationship to lower level financial analysts.  Also assumes the coordination of large non-routine projects as assigned by the Department Coordinator, Manager or Director. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Process Improvement, Financial Services, and Compliance

 

  1. Collects, aggregates and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into business performance, working with staff and management.
  2. Produces actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identifies areas of improvement into current operations and displays root case analysis of problems.
  3. Use analytics and metrics to improve processes, identify risks and provide data-driven forecasts.  Communicates findings and insight to stakeholders and provides business strategy recommendations for optimizing business performance.
  4. Assists with special systems and analytics projects for the Process Improvement, Financial Services, and Compliance Department.
  5. Understands how the major functions and processes in financial, coding, clinical and compliance decision processes are related and understands how changes within one process may affect other functions.
  6. Has in-depth knowledge of many healthcare financial topics; for example, revenue cycle management (billing, collections, insurance follow-up, reimbursement) and performance development.
  7. Proactively develops improved methods of reporting and analyzing both clinical and financial data that will enhance the operations.
  8. Anticipates both Department and Hospital Management informational needs and is able to interpret and communicate the data necessary to meet those needs in multiple formats (verbal, written reports, Power Point presentations, and Executive Summaries).  Also, consistently offers conclusions and recommendations based on the data provided.
  9. Plans and performs projects under a high level of autonomy and within tight timeframes.
  10. Develops and manages cross-functional and strategic projects from end to end, with ability to articulate, present, share findings to all levels of leadership, and understanding the different levels of detail appropriate for each type of audience.
  11. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand impacts of operational changes on financial performance and aid in system-wide strategic project execution.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

  1. Bachelor's degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Public Health or Healthcare Administration or similar fields.
  2. Minimum 4 years of experience in Business Intelligence role OR combination of experience and relevant advanced degree.
  3. Experience in the development and management of complex project plans.
  4. Skills in using Microsoft Office products; advanced level ability with Excel, Visio, and Access applications.
  5. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Demonstrated advanced executive-level professional communication skills in written reports and oral formats.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

 

  1. 3+ years’ experience in healthcare finance role.
  2. Master's in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or similar role.
  3. Two years’ experience as a Healthcare Data Analyst or Consultant.
  4. Strong knowledge of and experience with databases, including SQL and other advanced query languages; advanced Excel skills; data collection, cleaning, and validation; data visualization tools (ex.Tableau); basic machine learning and pattern recognition tools (ex.UIPath); and dashboard development. Demonstrated ability to create and manage complex queries, with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
