Conducts moderate to complex financial analysis and modeling projects using various financial systems. Expert at extracting, manipulating, and analyzing information from all financial tools to complete ad hoc projects and develop recurring financial reports that executive leadership utilizes to drive tactical and strategic business decisions. Performs such analyses with minimal supervision and assists in the training and development of Associate Financial Analysts. Assumes the coordination of projects assigned to Associate Financial Analysts. Subject matter expert (SME) for designated service line(s). Serves as primary financial point of contact for operational leaders within designated service line(s).
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Function as a key member of a dynamic, cross-functional team that serves as the liaison between various Corporate financial departments and healthcare operational leadership, working to develop and implement financial strategies.
- Project Leadership: Leads and plans moderate to complex financial analysis projects with a high degree of autonomy. Delegate tasks to Associate Financial Analysts, as appropriate.
- Primary Liaison Role: Acts as the primary point of contact for tier II or tier III service line operational leadership.
- Operational Support: Serves as subject matter expert (SME) for assigned service line(s) while building relationships with key operational leaders to support strategic initiatives.
- Data Mining: Extensively utilizes SQL and other methods to extract and abstract data from various financial systems, including data warehouses and Axiom. Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of data warehouses and other system resources.
- Advanced Data Analysis: Conducts complex data analyses to identify financial trends and patterns utilizing financial software, Excel, and data visualization tools, such as Power BI and Spotfire. Develops analyses into concise conclusions that will inform business decisions made by key stakeholders.
- Financial Modeling and Reporting: Creates and presents financial models, reports, and insights to executive leadership, ensuring professional and concise communication of findings. Continually considers and implements improved modeling and reporting methods.
- Mentorship: Mentors and reviews the work of Associate Analysts, providing guidance, training, and development.
- Strategic Planning: Develops strategic financial projections and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth for assigned service line(s).
- Ad Hoc Tasking: Performs complex ad hoc projects that directly impact operational and financial decision-making at the request of team leadership with minimal supervision, as needed.
- Process Improvement: Supports cross-functional initiatives to streamline financial reporting and processes.
- Market Awareness: Proactively tracks local and regional market trends, competitor awareness, and service line-specific developments.
- Collaboration: Builds and maintains relationships needed to serve as the primary point of contact for cross-departmental needs and collaboration.
- Healthcare Knowledge: Maintains in-depth knowledge of many healthcare financial topics. Examples include hospital reimbursement, cost accounting, capital and operating budgets, capital investment analysis, profitability statements, accounting principles, and revenue cycle management and performance development. Understands the major functions and processes present within healthcare finance and how changes in processes may affect other functions.
- Prospective Mindset: Anticipates the informational needs of both service line operational leadership and system financial leadership and is able to interpret and communicate the data necessary to meet those needs in multiple formats (verbal, written reports and Power Point presentations). Consistently offers actionable conclusions and recommendations based on the data provided.
- Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and department policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager.
