Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Functions as the technical expert for Hybrid/EVOR cases, and assists with procedural assignments and activities for the day.
  2. Ensures competencies and proficiencies of any team member’s usage of fluoroscopy and angiographic equipment.
  3. Responsible for radiation safety compliance with all team members and personnel entering radiation exposure areas of the Hybrid/EVOR dept.
  4. Ensures competencies and proficiencies of endovascular concepts such as the management of guide wires, catheters, stents, angioplasty balloons, and any other medical device pertaining to endovascular techniques.
  5. Provides and ensures resources are available to members of the hybrid team concerning didactic, simulation, and hands-on education and preceptorship to Hybrid/EVOR Dept.
  6. Monitors EVOR personnel for compliance with established EVOR patient flow, guidelines, policies, and patient care standards
  7. Maintains competency requirements for all JCC compliances involved in performing procedures within the Hybrid/EVOR dept. in collaboration with EVOR Nurse Coordinator.
  8. Collaborates with other Endovascular Coordinators to organize all vendor activity for scheduled cases and vendor presence within the department. Verifies compliances from 3rd party vendors regarding policies and organizational expectations.
  9. Maintains and is responsible for all required supplies and ensures adequate par-levels concerning materials and equipment for scheduled and emergent cases performed in the hybrid/EVOR suite.
  10. Ensures hybrid team members understand how to troubleshoot obstacles and understands how to report issues pertaining to equipment in the hybrid/EVOR dept.
  11. Responsible for image post-processing, archiving, and materials management.
  12. Responsible for report distribution, ensures team compliance with post-processing of procedural imaging, and archiving appropriate imaging to PACS according to organizational protocols.
  13. Ensures the proper documentation of variance reports as necessary and forwards to manager within 24 hours, when appropriate.
  14. Demonstrates knowledge of normal clinical parameters (diagnostic studies, side effects, etc) by reporting significant findings to appropriate person(s).
  15. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/visitor/patient injury‑accident to EVOR Nurse Coordinator.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Other duties as assigned by EVOR Nurse Coordinator or Surgery Clinical Manager.
  2. Expected to be an active participant in the establishment and achievement of service line goals.
  3. Participates with supervisor/manager in evaluating personnel. Provides input for ongoing evaluation of staff and assists with performance evaluation.
  4. Performs special projects/duties as requested and according to established time frames
  5. Collaborates with the EVOR RN Coordinator to identify areas of need for Hybrid team personnel and follows through with the appropriate approaches to fill need (ex. Team conferences, in-services, skill validation)
  6. Collaborates with the EVOR RN Coordinator to solicit feedback from physicians in order to make recommendations for new equipment.
  7. Enables personnel to attend in-services/educational opportunities to enhance skills/patient care abilities as staffing allows

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Must possess one (1) of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the vascular/endovascular environment.
